Mission

To assist good quality scholarly journals to be accessible free of cost, and to promote the use of these journals by the international community.

  • We promote access to high quality journals by means of a digital library of scholarly publications freely available through the Internet.
  • We assist scholars and publishers from low and middle income countries in making the transition to electronic modes of publication and dissemination.
  • We strive to reduce the impact of the digital divide and the scholarly communication crisis.

Quality Assurance

JournalServerSM is a brand name that assures high quality, peer-reviewed, scholarly articles to its users. By participating in the initiative a journal can be recognised as a good quality journal and will also be made available on the servers of the leading universities that are associated with JournalServer.

JournalServer only supports high quality peer-reviewed journals, most of which are not readily available outside their respective countries. When approached by journals that are not currently indexed by the ISI (Current Contents) or similar international benchmarking organisations, JournalServer will ensure that the journals go through a rigorous critical review process by a panel of international experts. Such a journal will be accepted by JournalServer if it is convinced that doing so would enable the journal to be recognised and indexed internationally within the next 5 years.
